Pacquiao victorious in return fight vs Vargas, claims world title

Pacquiao vs. Vargas 2016

Manny Pacquiao put on a masterful performance to take the WBO World welterweight title from champion Jessie Vargas Sunday (Manila time) at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

It was the Filipino’s return fight after he announced his retirement in April when he beat Timothy Bradley in what would have been his swan song from the sport.

Pacquiao took a 114-113, 118-109, 118-109 unanimous victory.

Vargas tasted the canvas early in the fight when Pacquiao’s left cross landed directly on the chin of the champion. Read more about Pacquiao victorious in return fight vs Vargas, claims world title

Dino Maragay | Updated Sunday April 10, 2016 - 5:19pm

LAS VEGAS - Timothy Bradley entered Saturday's fight (Sunday in Manila) believing he can convincingly defeat Manny Pacquiao this time.

He instead turned into believer in Pacquiao.

The 32-year-old American was convinced that he edged Pacquiao the first time they met in 2012, and maintained he was injured in their rematch two years later.

But Bradley sang a different tune after getting it on with Pacquiao again for another 12 rounds, this time acknowledging the latter's supremacy over him. Read more about Bradley marvels at Pacquiao: 'Best fighter I ever faced'

Von Miller, Broncos defense dominates Panthers

superbowl 50

By Associated Press

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- A reborn Orange Crush might have sent Peyton Manning into retirement with a Super ending to his career.
Von Miller and the impenetrable Denver defense harassed Panthers quarterback Cam Newton all game Sunday, and the Broncos made enough big plays for a 24-10 victory, Manning's 200th and perhaps his last before retirement. Read more about Von Miller, Broncos defense dominates Panthers

Broncos ride defense to Super Bowl bid in win over Patriots

Broncos 2016 AFC champs

DENVER - No, you're not seeing things.

That really was Peyton Manning lumbering his way down the field for a 12-yard gain and a first down Sunday. And thanks to his defense, that will be Manning - the 39-year-old quarterback who was supposed to be on his way to a retirement party - and the Denver Broncos, not Tom Brady and the champion New England Patriots, playing in the Super Bowl two weeks from now. Texans secure AFC South title, blow away Jags

Donald Sterling remains a total scumbag, and the NBA needs to deal with it

Donald Sterling is a total scumbag. He has a history of particularly grotesque and federally prosecuted racism and a list of sexual harassment accusers. He's a grandstanding idiot without a modicum of self-awareness. He's the type of dumbass who would hold a Black History Month celebration in March, and the type of racist moron who would "celebrate Black History" by giving 1,000 game tickets to poor kids, because the brainless hockey puck equates Black people with poor people, because he is a complete cretin. NBA playoffs in progress, can the Heat threepeat?

The NBA first round of the playoffs for the 2013-2014 season is ongoing and the match ups are quite tight in both the Eastern and Western Conference turfs except for the Miami Heat which swept the Charlotte Bobcats 4-0.

The second seed in the East, Heat can at least rest and reenergize for a week while waiting for its second round opponent which is either the third seed Toronto Raptors or the sixth seed Brooklyn Nets which are now tied 2-2 in their first round series. A bad season for the ailing Texans

After the Houston Texans eked out a 2-0 start, it was all disaster for the once amazing and promising football team. It suffered its worst franchise record of 14 straight losses and ended up fourth in the AFC South in a season-ending 2-14 win-loss card.

So frustrating was how the team performed that in week 14 and with a loss to the cellar dweller Jacksonville Jaguars, Texans team owner Bob Mcnair handed Head coach Gary Kubiak his pink slip. Mcnair named Defensive coach Wade Philipps as interim coach and later hired former Penn State head coach Bill O' Brien as the team's third head coach.

In the season opener, the Texans won against the San Diego Chargers, 31-28 in a come-from-behind fashion. Down 3 touchdowns (21-points) in the third quarter, the Texans sparked a 24-0 run in the closing minutes of the third quarter and the rest of the fourth quarter to finally win one against the Chargers. Can Manny Pacquiao bounce back from that devastating knock out loss to Marquez?

Marquez delivers the KO punch of the decade......

Saturday night was not as cold as it seems when Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao was devastatingly knocked out cold by Juan Manuel Marquez with a perfectly executed crisp right straight at exactly 2:59th minute of the sixth round.

Pacquiao started chasing Marquez and landed good shots in rounds one and two until Marquez suddenly surprised Pacman in the third round with an overhand right power shot that knocked down the pound-for-pound king for the first time in the bout and in the previous 36 rounds that they had squared off so far.
